LOVELY

“Well, just meet me at my house!” I spoke.

“Aight!” Cole replied.

That was about an hour ago, I thought as I finished giving the boys a bath and put them in their room, turning on Mickey Mouse clubhouse. They laid in their beds with their juice cups watching TV. I turned around to hear knocking at my door; finally, Cole. I opened the door in my oversized t-shirt and let him in. He went to the kitchen and opened the fridge.

“Now what happened?” he spoke, turning around, taking my fruit bowl out the fridge, and eating them. I sighed.

“I don’t even feel like talking about it anymore, so to make a long story short, the dinner that was supposed to be for me and DeDe ended up being my mom, Cream, DeDe’s new girlfriend and my ex best friend, Kandi. Clay and his new girlfriend Zoe, the girl whose baby you seen me holding in the doctor’s office the other day, were there too. Anyway, I knew her from around the way, even opened up the opportunity for the bitch to make money with me when she was pregnant, only to find out she been fucking Clay this whole time. So I just clicked. I’m to the point where I’m tired of the bullshit; it’s time to start taking shit into my own hands. Needless to say, I jumped on her and Clay.”

“What do you mean jumped, as in fight?” Cole asked, looking confused.

“Yes!”

“As in while you’re pregnant, as in around the boys?” I nodded, feeling like the lowest person on Earth.

“You know, no matter how much credit I give you for actually being smart, you always find a way to prove me wrong, Lovely! You around here fighting over a nigga that has proved to you on more than one occasion that he’s not the man for you. The fucking doctors just told your ignorant ass that you damn near need to be on bedrest. I can’t keep doing this back and forth shit with you all. That fight just proved was what I been saying all along, you’re still and will always be in love with Clay, and I’m fooling myself hanging around.”

“It’s not like that Cole, I’m sorry,” I spoke, not being able to control the tears falling from my eyes.

“Then how is it? Because the way it looks, it’s all bullshit!” Cole spoke, standing up to leave.

“No, don’t go Cole!” I spoke in a panic.

“Why shouldn’t I leave, ain’t shit for me here.”

“Because I love you Cole, ok! I fucking love you; you’re right, I still love Clay, but I’m falling in love with you more and more every day, and I’m just confused. I just don’t know what to do. I’m just tired of the bullshit. I just want to be happy,” I spoke, breaking down as my face was covered in tears.

It was true. I was falling for Cole every day, and the fact that he didn’t make me love him; it just came natural.
